Bridal shower games people don't dread
A short, opinionated list of bridal shower activities that guests enjoy, and a few classics worth retiring.
Shower games have a reputation, and some of it is earned. The good news is that one or two well-chosen activities are plenty. Here's a short, opinionated list.
Worth keeping
- How well do you know the couple: a short quiz with answers from the partner, collected in advance. People learn something, and it's usually funny.
- Advice cards: guests write marriage advice or a date-night idea on a card while they eat. No performing required.
- Recipe cards: each guest brings a favorite recipe. The couple ends up with a cookbook from people they love.
Worth retiring
- Anything that asks guests to perform in front of the room.
- Games with more than one sentence of rules.
- Toilet paper dresses. They take forever and the photos are never as good as people hope.
Keep it short
Thirty minutes of games is plenty. Most guests came to see the bride, eat something nice and watch the gifts. Plan around that and nobody will mind the one game you do.
